The spring and summer season is undoubtedly one of our favourite times of the year for fashion – people tend to be more experimental with their clothing choices and we don’t have to consciously think about keeping ourselves warm as the weather should be doing that for us! With the summer season fast approaching, it could be time to start looking at which pieces in your wardrobe are a good fit and which might be best shipping out. We’ve picked out a few of our favourite trends to keep your eye out for in SS20 menswear, so take a look to find out what items you’ll need, what you’ve already got in your wardrobe, and how you can style them to give a new lease of life to some of your older pieces.

Cargo Trousers
They’ve had a huge resurgence as part of the recent utilitarian trend within men’s streetwear, which has seen practicality and fashion merge for a style that’s focused on comfort and utility as opposed to obstructive and uncomfortable items that we have previously seen. Whilst this trend usually features heavy materials that focus on warmth, there are ways that it can be worn in the summer too, namely in the shape of cargo trousers! These pants are great for all seasons and are a must-have for any streetwear-inspired wardrobe – snap them up now before it’s too late.
Cargo trousers are born out of utility but have become a huge fashion statement in recent times, making their way onto the biggest catwalks with their unique fit and larger than life pockets making a unique addition to any streetwear outfit.
Bold Print Shirts
A timeless summer favourite. Every summer we, without fail, see huge prints emblazoned across shirts in a way that you just never seem to see in the winter. Whether it’s the warm weather making us all a bit more flamboyant or the sunshine helping us all to embrace the bright colours more, we love this style. You can expect to find an array of bold prints ranging from floral to Aztec patterns, with many more styles hitting the shelves in almost every store. Along with these bold, eye-catching prints, you’ll also be seeing a lot of bright and energetic colours – it’s the perfect way to make the most of those happy summer vibes for SS20 menswear!
70s Continuation
70s style was back with a bang last year and we can’t see it going anywhere as we move into this coming summer either. This trend focuses on unusual materials taking centre stage alongside a supporting cast of retro cuts and fits that offer a nostalgic throwback to one of the coolest eras on record, whilst also retaining a modern edge that will still look the part in 2020 and beyond. Bright colours are a huge part of this style, particularly when used on jumpers, cardigans, and jackets. Fabric is a hugely important factor for any 70s fit; denim jeans, suede bombers, and leather jackets all being staple pieces for anything 1970s-inspired. To truly complete the 70s vibe, stick on a roll-neck top or a turtle-neck – these were all the rage back in the day and they’ve made a huge comeback during this current retro resurgence.
Menswear is an ever-evolving industry that’s always on the move, so it’s important that you create a wardrobe that’s capable of keeping up with these changing styles. No matter whether you’re rocking a retro-inspired outfit from the 70s or 80s, or one of the freshest streetwear styles around, there’s a look in the SS20 menswear to suit everyone; it’s all about finding a style you love and running with it!
