A Night In With Eataliano

I feel like a lot of my posts recently have been about COVID-19 and the pandemic we’re currently experiencing. At the moment, the UK is still in a state of lockdown and cabin fever is definitely setting in for me. Me and my partner love going out for meals in London and this is something we obviously can’t do at the moment, which sucks. It’s hard to have those comforts that we were used to having, get stripped from us. However, the restaurant experience doesn’t need to perish completely from our lives, especially when companies like Eataliano are providing fresh, high-quality ingredients straight to our doorsteps.

Based in Kensington, which is just a stone’s throw away from me, Eataliano is a place where you can get a wide array of Italian ingredients to help create beautiful dishes that are simple and easy to make. The dish that I decided to create was a Sausage, Spinach & Ricotta Tortelloni. I used the Pomodori sauce and combined that with Mascarpone to make a creamy sauce. Eataliano were very generous in giving me a mixture of their products that are on offer via Deliveroo. This includes fresh and dry pasta, an assortment of cheese including a delicious Reggiano Parmigiano. We also got some cold meats to try and so I decided this would be a little Saturday night feast for myself and Sam.Eataliano PrepAt first, I thought the tortellini was going to be too small a portion for two people but let me tell you, that pasta ballooned in size and I struggled to finish it, despite it being absolutely delicious. Spinach and ricotta are a texture that I love and I think it went down so well with the sausage and tomato sauce. This meal was certainly a bitter sweet one because we were meant to go to Milan for Sam’s birthday the weekend that Italy officially went into lockdown. However, this was a nice experience to have in our home and the bottle of bubbly certainly helped.

The cold meat was delicious and I paired this with some fresh mozarella because, why not? My homemade guacamole is something Sam loves and he raves about it whenever we’re having guests over for dinner, which I then end up making. We had some tortilla chips to go with the dip, which we enjoyed as a snack while waiting for the food to cook.Eataliano Cold MeatsThe prices for all this food are very reasonable and sort of what you’d pay usually within a supermarket. I’ve listed everything that I got below, along with the prices so that you have an idea of cost:

Grana Padano (Parmesan) – £4.85

Buffalo Mozarella – £1.95

Buffalo Ricotta Cheese – £1.30

Burrata – £2.15

Cow’s Milk Ricotta – £2.45

Cured Ham Sliced – £4.60

Organic Tomato Passata – £4.30

The fresh and dried pasta seems to vary in stock when you go on Deliveroo but they range from £1.50-£5. In terms of the quality, it’s certainly there in the food that we had. I would definitely buy some of that fresh pasta again, along with the cold meats and the mozarella. We are still going through the Grana Padano and I love the strong taste it has that, it almost smells a bit like blue cheese.Eataliano Portrait

Thank you to Eataliano for giving us the taste of Italy without having to leave our home. This lockdown is definitely hard for a lot of us but it’s great to know that brands like this are providing a taste of normality, even if we have to do the prep and cooking ourselves. It’s all made a little easier when you don’t need to step foot out of your home to get the ingredients!
