How Covid-19 Is Affecting Our Love Lives

The Covid-19 virus is affecting us in different ways and one of those ways is our love lives. I read a news article the other day which was talking about a surge in numbers for those filing for a divorce! It’s clear that whether you’re in a relationship or not, your love life is being hindered in some sort of way. You’ve perhaps gone from actively dating to having no social connection for weeks and for those living with partners, you’re seeing them every second of the day.

I think me and my partner are fortunate that from the very beginning of our relationship, we spent a lot of time with each other before we even started living together. But for those couples who have only recently moved in together, they’re suddenly finding themselves finding unable to have any space and that can ruin relationships regardless of how long they’ve been together.

And that got me thinking. How do you help make a relationship work or to continue searching for Mr or Mrs Right during Covid-19? Well here are some tips!

Spend Time Apart In A Different Area Of Your Home

I realise that not everyone’s properties are huge but unless you’re in a studio apartment where everything is in one room, it’s a good idea to spend time apart in a different area of your home. Even if both of you are working from home, use this opportunity to stick to your usual work hours and only see each other for your lunch break and after you’ve finished for the day. It’s going to help you to miss your partner more and hopefully you’ll feel find a bit more normality by being in a workspace on your own.

Continue Using Dating Apps And Websites

Just because you can’t go out and date, why not use dating apps and websites? There’s websites like Isle of Man dating where you can find those individuals who are local to your area and instead of seeing them in person, you can start off by making more meaningful conversations. Now that we all have a common problem, it’s a good conversation starter, right? And since the rise of the online world and social media, there’s a whole heap of online dating opportunities like Love Aberdeen Singles, Yorkshire Sex and Hampshire Sex.

Do A Date Night Each Week

The important part of any relationship is making time for each other. Obviously you have that in abundance when it comes to be indoors with each other. However, there’s a difference between being there and being present. Date nights are something both me and my partner try and do every so often. It’s a great opportunity to have someone cook for you and to enjoy each other’s company without any distractions. Date night at home can be the same concept. You could order in or have one of you cook the other a meal. Plan out the evening so your partner sees that some thought has gone into it. You can then swap over the following week, with your partner organising date night.

Learn More About What You Want

You can learn a lot about yourself during this time in isolation. As a single pringle, it’s important to know what you want so that when you’re in a relationship, you can tell them. There’s such a reserved attitude when it comes to our sex lives and sexual pleasures, but it’s so important for the health of your relationship to be explore your body and to know what makes you tick. Of course, sex isn’t everything but it plays a part in your relationship regardless.

Let me know what’s happening in your love life or how you’re making it work with your significant other in the comments below. Covid-19 is affecting our love lives but see it as a challenge!
