How To Transform A Dull Space

A lot of people in this current period are taking the time to do some work to their homes. With many not having any work to do in their jobs perhaps for being on furlough, it’s a good idea to use this free time to your advantage. What better way to do that then transforming spaces in your home. If you have a dull space in your property that everytime you go into is just fustrating, then here are some tips with how to transform it.

Add Some Lighting

Lighting has such an emotional effect on us that whenever we go into a lit room or one that’s flooded with natural sunlight, we immediately feel that lift in our mood. That’s the effect that you want to bring into that space that’s feeling a little dull. Look at the current lighting situation and whether you need to replace the lamp shades to open up the light a little more. Perhaps the light colour needs to be more warm instead of a harsh clinical, cool light. You want to try and mimic natural daylight as close as possible. If you need to add in more light, consider what lighting is going to help elevate the room more and focus on those dark spots in the room itself. These LED pendant lights in the living room, for example, are a great feature piece but also create spots of lighting.

Give It A Pop Of Colour

When it comes to colour, it’s something that you. probably want to use sparingly and perhaps within soft furnishings. The only reason to avoid putting it on the walls is that you’ll likely want to change it more frequently. If that’s something you don’t mind doing then go for it. For those who are lazy (like me), keep your walls neutral and work colour into things like the floor rugs, the throws and cushions on your sofa or bed. By having this colour in a temporary format, you can then switch it up whenever you want and in effect, you might not need to spend as much money either.

Get Some Artwork Up

Artwork is something I love and when we end up getting a house, I’ll be going to town on the artwork. Right now in our apartment, everything is pretty neat and tidy and so I want to keep the art to a minimum. However, in order to help transform a space into something more exciting, find some artwork that reflects your personality or something you can relate to and pop it up around the space. Whether it’s a big canvas print or a collection of collages.

Start An Indoor Garden

Nature is something that a lot of us can find peace and comfort in, so why not bring it indoors. I’ve been using a company called Patch for my last few plants and I’d love to get some more for the home because it just helps bring your home to life. When transforming a space, get yourself a plant pot of some description and get a plant or two in the space and see the immediate difference it can make to the space.
