The Busy Life And Demands Of An Influencer

I shy away from using the term influencer. A lot of people tend to have a negative attitude toward the word. It’s strange that they do but I can sort of see where they’re coming from at the same time. I often compare the role like that of an actor. The audience only gets to see the finished product. But what they don’t see is everything that goes on behind the scenes.

As an influencer, the demands of the job are far beyond just taking a picture. Tagging the word AD or gifted, and getting paid lots of money. Although that might the case for some, for many, that’s only the final step of a whole background of work. There’s a lot that goes on and that you don’t necessarily see. With that in mind, I thought I’d delve deeper into my busy life. I’m exploring the demands of an influencer from my point of view.

Influencer

When I was constantly on the move being self-employed when I first moved to London and then getting a full-time job. Commuting in and out, data was very important for me. It was essential for me to have enough data to do everything I needed to do because I was using my phone like it was an office. I would answer my emails, write blog posts where I could, and take the necessary photos needed for my social media channels. I was also recording video content too back when I was running the YouTube channel.

Why Is A ‘Data Only Sim‘ The Best Option For You?

When I’m working remotely on the go or from a location that doesn’t have easy access to WIFI,  having plenty of data and making use of data only sims are definitely important for me. They’re perfect for those who have tablets and iPad. I usually have 10GB worth of data per month on my phone and that’s enough now that I work mostly from home. However, if you’re an influencer who spends a lot of time out and about at events and meetings, then you’ll likely find you need more. Getting a data-only sim is a lot more affordable for those who simply need data and you can pretty much make calls and message people over social media platforms anyway.

A Typical Day In The Life Of An Influencer

My typical day when I was working full-time would be to write blog posts whilst on my commute. I’m also a freelance writer and so at the time, I was writing around 4,000 words a day. Yes, that sounds like a lot but for me, I had perfected the ability to write content quickly and 4,000 is broken down into 500, 1,000, or 1,500-word articles. I’d go to work, do some extra on my lunch break, and then when I got back home, I’d spend the evening working on my blog and finishing off any articles. This was and is still my life since around 2018 and I LOVE IT.

Nowadays, my freelance writing has certainly taken over the majority of the working day as I now write 6,000 words a day but I have two social media accounts that I try to maintain as often as possible. I have recently discovered Tiktok so I try to post regularly on there too. Depending on my ability to write content and the time I have available, I try to get one or two blog posts up for my second blog and as many as needed up on UpYourVlog. It all depends on what posts I need to write and what products I need to review. As well as that, I’m constantly pitching to companies via email on a daily basis. I’m also promoting my content on social media feeds. I’ve gotten to the point where at some point, I need to seriously start looking for someone to handle all my social media promotion on Twitter and Pinterest at least. I have only got so many hours in the day and for seven to nine of them, I need to sleep.

Don’t Judge A Book By Its Cover

Yes, there are some individuals that are influencers but end up giving everyone a bad name. It’s the ones that ask for stuff for free in exchange for promotion on social media channels. It’s usually to companies and individuals that haven’t asked for bloggers or YouTubers in the first place. I can understand the frustration that those must feel and there’s definitely a more professional way to go about it. I certainly see certain bloggers and influencers as being just like those who write for magazines and newspapers. They might have just as much influential reach or if not, more reach than typical media outlets.

What I would say overall is that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. I am classed as an influencer and I definitely work for every opportunity that comes my way. I work a lot of weekends and currently I take off every other weekend. I’m determined to build up my second blog and make it as successful as my first one. Just because you see one version of an influencer, doesn’t mean we’re all like that. And at the same time, I work my butt off!
