Why It’s Important To Make Time For Each Other In Lockdown

Believe it or not, the UK is still in a state of lockdown as attempts are made to contain the spread of the Coronavirus. Many of us have now spent months largely confined to our homes, which has put a new slant on relationships for those living with partners and now stuck under each other’s feet 24/7. This may have brought some people together or made things more difficult, but it’s crucial to remember why you chose to live with each other in the first place and make time to celebrate yourselves as a couple. Here are some things you can do together to keep the fires of passion burning during lockdown

Pick A Team Project

Has all that extra time under your own roof helped you spot some things that need to be fixed – or areas you want to freshen up? From the planning to the purchasing and maybe even the construction, collaborate together so that the end result is a space that you both love. It might be a breakfast bar where you can sit and get ready for the day, a new colour scheme in the bedroom or the warmer months might tempt you into installing some outdoor seating.

Keep Talking

Amid uncertainties about our health, our jobs and many other aspects of daily life, this has been a period of strain on mental health across the board. For example, if you’re still working but your partner has lost their job or been put on furlough, have you taken the time to understand how they’re feeling about it? Talking is one of the most effective forms of therapy, and being there to hear what your partner has to say will deepen your mutual understanding, as well as strengthen the bonds that brought you together in the first place.

Make Effective Schedules

If your day-to-day activities allow it, get a grip on your week from the outset with time dedicated to joint activities, working, relaxing and whatever else you can do to keep your mind and body active. So much of our lives’ structure has been thrown up in the air for now, but get to know when you and your partner need some solo time, and it will make the moments you come back together all the sweeter.

Get The Blood Pumping

You might be looking into something to do together to stay healthy during lockdown – may be a yoga class you can both join, running together, or getting together some equipment to make up your own circuit classes. On the other hand, if your partner is the one looking to tone up, give them the support they need to keep going when the muscles are aching – that confidence boost might be exactly what they need!

Lockdown will soon be over so make the most of your time with you and your loved one.
