Just because the cooler months have suddenly jumped upon us, doesn’t mean you should pack away your garden. The outdoor space of your home is something you should take full advantage of and for me, I can’t wait until we get our next home and we can have our own private garden. We have a communal garden, which has it’s perks because we don’t need to do any upkeep but at the same time, we just don’t get any privacy from the rest of the neighbours (as lovely as they are). With that being said, it’s good to take full advantage of your garden this winter. Here are some tips for prepping your garden for the cooler months.

Invest In Some Outdoor Furniture
The main issue that people will find with utilising their outside space is where to sit to enjoy their surroundings. Some might have a table and chairs used for summer dining outside but when the winter comes around, they may not be the most comfortable furniture to sit on when outside in the cold. Instead, why not invest in some luxury rattan furniture in the form of sofas and poof stools? They make for a much comfortable seating area and you can transform a section in the garden that feels more like an outdoor dining area than just a table and chair set that’s been plonked towards the back of the garden. See the outdoor space as another room of your home, instead of an exterior when it comes to designing and adding decor.
Light It Up
When lighting up your home, the outdoor area is going to look a little bleak and dark. With the nights drawing in much earlier, it can be pretty dark by 5-6 pm. It’s therefore, worth investing in some lights for the outdoor space, whether you’re a fan of fairy lights draped around your fencing or spotlights placed strategically around the garden in order to illuminate the space. Remember, that you want to be able to create an inviting environment that you’re willing to wrap up warm for.
Get A Fire Pit
A fire pit is certainly a popular choice for many households nowadays because it’s the perfect winter warmer for the cold weather. There’s nothing like following dancing flames as you entertain guests late into the evening. It can help keep you outdoors for a lot longer and to enjoy your garden more. There are a variety of fire pits and stoves that you can get depending on the style and fittings you would prefer.
As well as the above, it’s worth protecting any vulnerable flowers with the right covering and netting, whilst also pulling up any dead plants and re-planting where necessary ahead of the new year. It makes a difference when you spend a little time pampering and prepping your garden space so that you can enjoy it fully even during the coldest of months.
