I absolutely love doing these types of posts because there’s really nothing more satisfying than seeing you accomplish your goals. 2020 has not been the one unfortunately for so many but at the same time, I am interested to see what goals I do achieve this year for UpYourVlog. But firstly, it’s time to reflect on those goals I set for 2020 so that I can set some new ones for 2021.
Grow Tilly & Rouge
This is a bit of an upset for me because whilst I have uploaded some content for Tilly & Rouge, it’s not a huge amount. I really wanted to do more content but surprisingly, I received a lot of freelance writing work, and then taking on the challenge of COVID, made it mentally challenging to get motivated. I’ve certainly set myself up to start off fresh again with Tilly & Rouge and you can see the goals I have for the platform in my recent blog post.
Get To 10K on Instagram
Although I still haven’t hit this number, I’m certainly getting closer to it. I’m currently (at the time of writing this) on 5.3K. A lot of that is thanks to Tiktok which has managed to greatly improve my numbers and I’m focused on making sure that Tiktok and my blog continue to contribute towards my IG following! Tiktok definitely took me by surprise when I managed to get an impressive following in just several months.
Hire Someone To Do My Promotions
Still haven’t done this one. I still trying to get myself into a financially comfortable position as a business and I think I’m just going to do it all myself until it gets to a point where I can pay someone a decent wage to do it all.
Diversify My Income
Diversifying my income is definitely a work in progress. I’ve got some big plans for 2021 when it comes to Tilly & Rouge in order to create a legitimate brand. In terms of other areas of diversifying my income, I’m now on Tiktok and planning to work on a new crime channel on YouTube, as well as figuring out where I want my other YouTube channel to go. My freelance writing is going really well but I want to try and make sure that I’m getting this work done and out of the way quickly when it comes to my working day so I can focus on everything else.
As much as 2020 has been a bit of a hot steaming pile of poop, I feel like I’ve achieved quite a lot in this time. So with that in mind, what goals do I have for 2021?
Start Posting More Often & With More Quality Content
One of the things that I’ve struggled with this year is creating quality content and posting consistently. It’s been great that UpYourVlog has become somewhat a passive earning opportunity as there’s a lot of guest posts that I feature on this blog. However, I’m still getting opportunities to work with small and big brands, so I still want to be posting more content but perhaps focusing on better quality this time around. For me, I want to make sure that the photos I’m taking, are going to be better.
I think this year, I’m going to try and invest in a DSLR camera and perhaps even a couple of photography and photo editing courses.
Earn £30,000 & Get My Business Finances In Order
One of the challenges of going self-employed is the finances. It’s not so much about what I’m earning, it’s more so about making it into a more functional business model. I should be having all my income go through one place and then paying myself a wage each month. Ideally, it means I can then hold some money in the business account to pay for advertising or for hiring someone to do my promotional content. This year, I want to try and achieve more than I did in 2019 and hit £30,000 earned solely on UpYourVlog.
Get To 10K On Instagram
Even though it’s a goal I didn’t meet, I definitely want to hit this target, especially as reach 10K gives you the option to swipe up during stories, which can be quite helpful when promoting certain products. Again, I want to focus on creating quality content that’s consistent and that is going to get more engagement than anything else. I’m currently hitting on average around 150-200 likes, which I think is good for someone with only five thousand followers.
Reach 1 Million On Tiktok
You go big or you go home when it comes to my business attitude and for 2021, I would love to make up for 2020 by reaching a million on Tiktok. It’s a challenge but I feel one that I could reach if I’m persistent with my posting. I took a break over the month of December for the most part but now I’m back and ready to thrive. I definitely think makeup/fashion transitions and dances is what I want to do on this platform. I just enjoy being creative on this platform!
