Planning Our Honeymoon

As we near the end of the year, I’ve suddenly realised that we’re heading into 2020 and that means there will be one more year left until it’s our wedding. Till now, I’ve taken the planning process fairly relaxed and that’s because I booked the venue, well in advance. Fortunately, I’ve gotten to enjoy the whole experience that is being engaged and I’m now looking forward to getting married. Hats off to anyone who does it within a year, you deserve a medal. At some point in the next six months, we’re going to plan out and start paying for our honeymoon.

Now myself and Sam have always loved going to America but for me I’ve only been to two places, New York and Florida. Sam did some summer camps in between his time at university and so he got to go to a lot more places and do a bit of travelling afterwards. So when we were thinking about honeymoon locations, the first and only place we thought to go was the USA. Now my nan has recently found out about her two biological sisters, with one being in America and the other in Australia. But more on that later this week!

We’ve not yet sat down and planned out our trip and so I have no clue as to whether these will be the actual places we go to. We do however know that we’re aiming to travel during September or October of 2021. We recently decided that doing it immediately after the wedding might not be possible, since we’d probably like to take a week or two off to fully enjoy the pre-wedding jitters and initial married life. We’re also planning to start house hunting again by that point and trying to find our forever home.

The places that we want to visit will be San Francisco,  Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago, Miami and then ending up in Florida for Disneyland madness. Some of these stops might not be possible, Chicago I think being one of them. It all depends on how much it’s going to cost us to get to these places in terms of flights and timings. I think we’d likely spend a two-three weeks in total for our honeymoon, so it’s a big excursion and one I’m personally going to have to save for because I’m freelance now. 2021 also happens to land on Sam’s 30th so there’s also that to consider when it comes to the wedding. He’s said he’d like a birthday party here in the UK and so I’m going to have to plan that alongside the wedding – lord help me.

I’ve also said that I’d pay for the trip to Florida and Disneyland as Sam’s birthday present. And it’s like to cost £1,000 per decade he’s been alive so I think that’s a deserving present right?! Let’s just say 2020 and 2021 is where I’m going to be living on beans. So if you’re looking to organise your Florida tickets, then it’s worth booking them well ahead of time because these types of holidays don’t stay cheap for very long. I’m so excited to start planning the honeymoon and I cannot wait to make these new adventures with my husband!

Where would you go on your honeymoon? If you’ve been already, let me know where you went in comments below.
