Why Playing Online Games Provides Hours Of Fun | Solitare

As someone who has grown up with the internet, it’s incredible to be part of a generation that’s watched it grow into something that none of us would have ever expected it to. Whilst there are so many incredible console games, the allure of traditional online games is still one that users of the internet should still play. Why? Well, there’s something nostalgic about playing online games, particularly those that are fairly basic in comparison to what’s out there now. So as I’m reaching my 29th birthday this year and creeping ever so closely to the big 3-0, I thought I’d get a hit of nostalgia and play some classic online games on Solitare.

Solitare was definitely a favourite of mine growing up as a newcomer to the online world. It was a game that came with every desktop computer growing up, so I was very familiar with how to play it. There was also a game called Minesweeper that I was obsessed with. It was the adrenaline of clicking on tiles, desperately hoping that it wasn’t one that had a bomb underneath it.

Klondike Solitare

Who doesn’t love a bit of Klondike Solitare? This is one I remember playing quite regularly on my parent’s desktop computer, back when dial-up was a thing. It was also a core feature when it came to games on your computer, right? The aim of the game is to get all four suits into the section on the bottom left-hand corner, as you can see in the screenshot above.

It provides a lot of attention, so games like this can really help me to focus and as a self-employed freelance writer and blogger, I need it!

Mahjong

Mahjong is one of those games that is definitely simple in its concept but its one that can take you a lot longer if you’re not being attentive to what you’re clicking on. You basically need to match up the symbols on each piece so that slowly but surely you clear all the pieces off the screen.

Pacman

The classic Pacman. The anticipation and adrenaline as the cute little yellow Pacman races around the screen, chomping up all the white dots whilst avoiding the enemies flying around the screen. It’s one of those that remains timeless even now with all the crazy advancements that have been made in online and console gaming.

Letter Scramble

Letter scramble is a great way of testing your knowledge of words and as a writer, it’s crazy how many long words you forget exist when you play this game! As more letters get thrown onto the screen, you’re not only against the clock but against the letters too.

It’s not until you start diving into online games nowadays that you remember all of the classics. The simplicity of them, yet you could spend hours and hours having fun. What online games did you enjoy growing up? Let me know in the comments below.
