I love talking about sex with my best friends. I should be lucky actually that I can speak to my girls so openly about sex without the worry of shame or embarrassment. Sex is something that pretty much most people will do unless they simply don’t enjoy it and consider themselves to be Asexual. However, sex should be something we can all talk about openly with our loved ones, especially when it comes to your other half.

Having been in a long-term relationship with whom I’m now married to, it’s natural for sex to become a bit of a chore. Life after university for me was a stark awakening. Sex more than once a week, drinking and sleeping in to get over the hangover, and having no responsibilities is something that no longer exists. You start getting older, you get busier and suddenly sex finds itself hanging its shoulders and moving further down the list of priorities.
In any relationship, it happens and it’s something that we should feel embarrassed or concerned about. At the end of the day, sex isn’t the only thing that makes up a strong relationship. HOWEVER, keeping pleasure in the bedroom is important. Everyone deserves pleasure and satisfaction from their partner. Regardless of age, getting busy and being satisfied is something that everyone should receive and give.
Struggling with that? Well, here are some top tips to help keep pleasure in the bedroom a priority from now on in.
Make time for sex – don’t put a timer on it
When it comes to sex, try not to put a timer on it. That doesn’t necessarily make for pleasure in the bedroom and it’s unfortunate that you’re putting pressure to perform on your partner – and yourself for that matter.
Making time for sex is important as it can be challenging enough to fit in any form of exercise sometimes. Life gets in the way and it ends up becoming something you fit in around your schedule. However, a lot of sex should be spontaneous and when it comes to the sex itself, try not to limit to a quickie or at the end of the night when you’re more likely to be exhausted by the day’s events.
Communicate with your partner
Communication is important and it’s something that you need to be able to have with your partner. If you don’t have communication, then a lot of things can go unsaid and misunderstood. All of this contributes to an unhealthy relationship and an unhealthy sex life too.
What is that you want? What is it they want? Understanding your own sexual preferences when it comes to kinks and positions in the bedroom can all be helpful in achieving ultimate pleasure from start to finish.
Try out some sex toys
To help improve your sex life and to add even more pleasure in between the sheets, try out some sex toys. Also, sex toys aren’t just for ladies. There are lots of sex toys for men from penis pumps to cock rings. Don’t be afraid of experimenting with sex toys because they may end up unlocking some pretty awesome, pleasurable moments as a result. Again, it’s all about communication with your partner and ask them what gives them pleasure. There are sex toys that can be used together so it’s worth starting up a collection!
Use a stimulus like roleplay or watching porn
I’m the biggest advocate in saying that porn is so unrealistic and while there is some porn that is much more realistic and real, there’s still a degree of staging. It’s no wonder we compare our own pleasures to the pleasure shown in porn videos. It’s just not that attainable for everyone – so stop comparing. With that said though, it can be a useful stimulus for getting horny in the bedroom and getting in the mood for sex. Role play for some can be effective in boosting the pleasure had from sex so put on your best acting shoes and get playing.
Sex is fun and it should be pleasurable every time. Don’t force anything on yourself or your partner, otherwise, it just kills the vibe completely. Communication, trust, and knowing what brings you pleasure are the most important parts of sex.
How do you feel about sex? Is it everything for you or is it something that’s just one part of the relationship? Let me know in the comments below.
