I’ve always been a candle person – and I still am. However, it was some time ago that I got hooked on wax melts. I think the first time I tried it, it was a gift from a friend and the other times have been supporting friends who have wax melt businesses. The appeal of wax melts is that they’re often more affordable than buying candles and they tend to last longer in comparison to candles in our home.

Giving them an initial smell, I could already tell that I was going to be a fan of the Rhubarb and Custard combination. I love sweet smells and despite having a more savoury tooth as an adult, I’m loving sweet scents when it comes to wax melts.
Teddy Clamshells – From £4.99
For those who want to just delve straight into the world of wax melts, I’d suggest trying the Teddy Clamshells. These come in two sizes currently at the time of writing. The newly designed Teddy Clamshell which is 85-90g and the Extra Large Teddy Clamshell which is over 100g. I believe I have the 85-90g newly designed clamshell.
I got the Rhubarb and Custard, Fresh Linen, and Hotel Of Dreams. I love the packaging and it makes it easy to separate the blocks within the clamshell itself.
If you’re new to these wax melts, then most will come in this type of packaging. You can simply use your hands to break up the blocks or a knife (safely) if they’re a bit tougher to get out.

So what can you expect from the scents themselves? Immediately, when burning the wax melts, you notice great coverage in the space. We live in a two-bed flat and I could smell the wax melts from outside the living room and in the bathroom, where I tried them out.
Rhubarb and Custard
A sweet and delicious scent that you have to hold back from taking a bite of. As one of the original eight scents they created when starting their business, you can see why Rhubarb and Custard remain one of the best choices. It wouldn’t be something though that I’d initially pick as I’m not a huge fan of rhubarb itself. However, this scent really did not disappoint.
Hotel of Dreams
For all the Disney fans, you’ve got the Hotel of Dreams which is a Disney-inspired wax melt. I mean, I’m converted already. The Hotel of Dreams has a floral and sweet scent which complement one another greatly. The brand describes the scene as floral with spicy pepper, bergamot, lemon grapefruit and leafy green notes. That’s a lot to take in and that’s only the first opening scent you get with this wax melt. It’s a great one for those who don’t want anything too sweet or too floral in comparison.
Fresh Linen
There’s nothing better than smelling fresh linen in the home and for me, I love wax melts that provide that smell without me actually needing to do any washing. I usually have the Fresh Linen scent in the bathroom or in our kitchen/dining room space as I think it does a good job of cancelling out any funky smells.
Teddy Pots – £0.99
If you’ve never tried wax melts before, then it’s well worth trying out the Teddy Pots. These are individual wax melts and I have to say the volume of wax melts you get for just 99p is incredible. You’re likely to burn this a few times and still get a great scent in the air from it.
Teddy Pots are good for use if you’re unsure of whether you want to buy a full Teddy Clamshell or a room mist. They’re easy to use and you simply pop them out of their packaging and put them straight into your wax melt burner. If you’re new to wax melts, then they have their own selection of wax melt burners to choose from too.
I got a selection of Teddy Pots to try from across their range. These include Strawberry & Lily, Spring Awakening, Alien, Starry Night, and Tlywyth Teg Eira. You’ll notice as you become more familiar with wax melts that brands use a lot of the same scents. However, I think the delivery of the scent boils down to how much of the scent they add to the wax and how that carries in the air. Teddy Eva has certainly got that balance right!
Teddy Room Sprays -£4.99
I’m a sucker for room mists, especially I use aerosol air fresheners around the flat. Aside from the wax melts, the brand also offers its own range of room sprays. I received the Lemon Sherbet room spray and let me tell you, it’s honestly as good as it sounds. If you’ve never tried a room spray before, I can guarantee you’ll love the ones available through Teddy Eva. The scent is strong and you can still smell it after walking in and out of the room. For £4.99, you get 100ml which doesn’t sound like a lot but I’ve sprayed my whole flat three times now and I’ve not even reached the top of the label yet.
