Food in London – My Old Dutch

Since moving to London, I’ve not really taken the opportunity to explore everything it has to offer, including foodies places that may not exist outside of the bustling city that is London. So I introduce you to My Old Dutch, a sweet and savoury pancake and waffle house that is simply delightful. They sell salads there but to be honest you can get a salad anywhere! Discovered just over 6 or 7 months ago, thanks to a friend. I’ve been back twice, which for me is a success when it comes to places to eat. I usually just try places once and then never go back. However, the combination of sweet and savoury on pancakes for me is just something I have to try out again…and again…and again!

My Old Dutch originally started out in 1958 and was situated between Covent Garden, the West End and the city. It now has multiple locations in Holborn, Chelsea and Kensington.

My favourite choice and go to choice is the Amsterdammer which is sautéed apples (which when translated means jumping apples as they are pan fried), bacon and maple syrup. Holy wacamoly is this good. The portion size isn’t your measly pancakes that you’d made on Pancake day. Oh no, these pancakes are as big as the plate it comes on. For £10, you basically get a pancake the size of a large Dominos pizza (but without all the carbs…ish).

If you’re ever in London town, especially around these parts and your looking for a bite to eat, then definitely stop at My Old Dutch for some of the best pancakes you’ll ever lay your eyes upon. I can also recommend the milkshakes they do, the Oreo milkshake is simply the best!
