I’ve been a busy bee these past few months that I’ve forgotten all about my make-up bag. My foundation was having the life squeezed out of it, the mascara is slowly drying up and I’m lacking concealer.
Above is my attempt of being artsy fartsy and I now know what a flatlay is! I’ve wanted to try the Makeup Revolution brand for a while now as I’ve heard it’s a great brand that’s good value for money as well as being high quality in make-up. I brought the Nude and Natural Eyeshadow palette. It cost me £10.39 from Amazon but I actually saw it in Boots recently as the brand is instore too.
The eyeshadows are a gorgeous and natural range that totally suit what I’m after in an eyeshadow. I’m all about creams, maroons and browns and this palette has it all. Some have a matte finish, while others have a little sparkle to them. Now for a foundation, I went back to my high school days and went for the Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse in the shade Ivory. I completely forgot just how good this stuff is! I’ve never fully loved a liquid foundation because I’ve often found it’s too cakey or it feels as if my skin can’t breath. With the dream matte mouse, it goes on like a dream and it finally matches my skin tone (which I’ve always struggled with). You can buy the foundation from Boots or Superdrug, depending on the store it’s around £7.69.
I got the Revolution Concealer, which I’ve also finally cracked in the shade department. I’ve never been the type to get things right the first time and granted it’s taken a few purchases but I’ve finally found the shade! The concealer is in a lipstick form and goes on easily. I use it for the spots where there’s redness or for the very baggy eyelids inherited by my dear father.
You can buy the concealer for just £1.00! And it’s sooooooooo good! I definitely thought this was a mistake when checking the price but surprise surprise it’s cheap as chips and I LOVE bargains. I recently got into reshaping and defining my eyebrows. I have very thick, dark eyebrows and there’s not a lot that I can do with them (or so I thought). I brought the Freedom Duo Eyebrow Powder in the shade dark brown which I think is the darkest I could get. My eyebrows are more or less black so I think if the eyeshadow was any darker, it may have been too much.
The single palette comes with the dark brown and a slightly lighter one. I assume it’s meant for highlighting underneath but my skin is too fair for it to actually highlight, so I’ll stick to my lighter concealer. This cost me £3.00 which I thought was perfect as a starter and it’s done the job! And finally I brought myself yet another lipstick from Rimmel. I’ve definitely got more than five now and it’s becoming a bit of an obsession. I went a little daring this time and got one in the shade Coffee Shimmer. It’s a beautiful brown with a subtle shimmer and it surprisingly suits my skin tone.
It cost me £4.99 which I think is a great price for lipsticks in general, especially when these are such great quality.
So make sure you check these beauties out when you’re next in your local drugstore!
