Can we just take a moment to acknowledge that it’s now September and there’s only so many weeks left until Christmas? I mean, it’s just too much! 2017 has gone in a heartbeat but it also feels like a long one too. It’s tested a lot of us in more ways than one. It’s made me so much more appreciative of the friends and family around me. We’re very fortunate.
This weekend was spent with Sam’s family, celebrating his Great Aunt Judy’s 80th birthday! And she is looking fabulous for 80. It was a lovely lunch buffet and there was a big turnout, so it was nice to see so many people who loved and cared about her.
Planning the Holiday
OMG, I have the countdown on my phone for mine and Sam’s holiday to Morocco and I am just the most excited being on the planet right now. This holiday could not come sooner and myself and Sam are currently planning what we’ll be doing there during our stay. We’re also considering an overnight stay in a nearby hotel the evening before our flight because hey, it’s always nice to revel in a little bit of pre-flight luxury.
Another weekend of family time but this weekend it was Sam’s parents. It’s great to spend time with the in laws, chatting about life and having a relaxed weekend. Although it was nice to get back into our own bed on Sunday. Myself and Sam didn’t sleep too well and it was probably due to the bed being smaller than what we’re used to. (Sam also woke me up at 3.18 in the morning by making me believe it was time to get up. Turned out he was sleep talking)
It’s incredibly scary to think that hurricanes are just something we have no control over. An act of mother nature and unfortunately we can’t stop it. This recent one has devasted a lot of livelihoods and once it’s over, there’s going to be so much to build back up. However if we’ve learnt anything within the past twelve months, it’s that communities and countries from afar come together to help those in need, both financially and emotionally.
