I cannot believe we’re already in October because I was about to start off this post about attending this event a couple of weeks ago and in fact it’s almost a month ago (#shook). Anyway, I got invited to attend an event at the Kiehl’s flagship store on Regent Street last month and I took along my best friend Hannah, whose heard of the brand but never tried any of the products.
Now I’m obsessed with Kiehl’s cult beauty favourite – the ultra facial cream, and it’s my go-to when the colder weather draws in because it’s a thick, hydrating cream that protects my skin. The event was launching the essence of lavender and it’s one of my favourite scents for providing the calm and tranquil feels.
We were greeted by the choice of gin or prosecco, we both went for prosecco first and then had a gin later. The prosecco was in a cute teacup and saucer and decorated with a stalk of lavender. The event took place in the basement of the store, with the majority of it’s range on display. There were a number of Kiehl’s representatives, who were offering skincare treatments and recommendations.
Both myself and Hannah had a little skincare pampering in the form of a skincare check. This was really interesting, as it tested how oily our skin was on different areas of the skin. It turns out that the most oily part of my skin is actually on my cheeks, which surprised me. After getting a skincare check, we both then got a full makeup removal and cleansing routine by one of the Kiehl’s staff.
Having a good skincare regime is certainly something I’ve become more conscious of doing especially as I’ve hit my mid-20s, and my skin is not getting any younger. As much as the older generation complain about younger women using anti-ageing products, I think the sooner you start, the better.
We were recommended a number of products, including mine and Hannah’s favourite from the event, Midnight Recovery Cleansing Oil. It’s a fascinating product that appears to draw the makeup away from the skin, leaving it on the surface of the skin to simply swipe away from a wet cloth or cotton pad. I also got to try the creamy avocado eye cream, which I’ve wanted to try out for a long time.
As well as tasty macaroons, of which some were lavender flavoured, it was interesting to explore more of the Kiehl’s range, including their hand-creams and serums. Another favourite for me was the Grapefruit Hand Cream, which was rich and hydrating but not greasy or tacky. I also hadn’t realised that the brand had an entire haircare range too.
On the walls of the basement, there was also a history of the brand which has sustained over 160 years in the beauty industry – pretty impressive.
We walked away with a mini gift bag, containing a few sample packs of various scrubs and skincare products. Unfortunately we missed out on the evening’s competition of winning a hamper (we we’re going to go splitsies if one of us won).
I’m already a Kiehl’s convert but I think Hannah has now added a few of the products to her wishlist. What do you think of Kiehl’s? Have you tried any of their range? Let me know in the comments below.
