What I Remember As A 90s Kid

– SPONSORED CONTENT –

The 90s and early 00s, let’s admit it, were the best times to be a kid. Thinking back to that time where life was just so easy and more importantly, innocent and free of everything negative in the world. Thinking about this got me nostalgic and then I saw an advertisement the other day that Polly Pocket is COMING BACK! For those who don’t know what Polly Pocket is, you’re probably too young so google it. This was pre-computer days y’all and it was amazing. But then it got me thinking, what did stand out from my childhood? What do I remember most about growing up in the 90s…and early 00s.

Crop top and skirt

Limos

I swear to god, limos were so popular back in the day and I don’t really see them out and about as often anymore. I remember this one time back in primary school, I’m not quite sure what it was for but a limo showed up outside our school. I feel like it was for one of my friend’s birthdays at the time, so we hopped in and I believe we still have the photos where myself and all the girls are literally ecstatic about being in a limo. Also because we were outside the school, there were all of these school kids going wild and we kinda look like celebrities being hounded by fans. It was so good and it was a limo that made it exciting. I really hope that hiring a limo becomes a thing again because they’re still classy right?

Denim

Denim, you are and will forever be my favorite clothing material. I think I had a denim bag when I was younger, amongst other denim stuff. I’m so glad it’s never fallen out of fashion and ever since Britney and Justin went double denim together, this fabric has become pretty iconic.

Furbies

So I saw one of these recently and Jesus, they’re scary AF. Now as I look back at some of the toys we played with, a lot of them are just really odd.  Furbies were a toy that everyone had back in school and I adored mine. Although after a while, they did get quite boring, as a kid I really loved my Furby and considered it to be something that was actually alive. Rather than it being a stuffed toy, with abnormally large eyes that seem to follow you around the room.

Pen Pals

I had a pen pal for a while when I was growing up. I can’t actually remember how it came about but I had one for ages. It’s crazy to think that in the space of 10 years, our way of interaction has changed so much. No one really sends letters to one another anymore and that sucks. I remember the excitement of getting a letter in the post and finding out what my pen pal was up to. I still have the letters and I wonder what she’s doing now?!

Did you grow up in the 90s? Let me know what you remember in the comments below.
