Picking Wedding Stationery | with Arnold & Bird

– COLLABORATIVE CONTENT –

I’m so excited to announce this collaboration! I’m proud to say that I’ll be working with Arnold & Bird on our bespoke save the date invitations, wedding invitations and wedding stationery on the day of the wedding. I really wanted to find someone special to be part of this memorable event in mine and Sam’s life and the invitations were something I really wanted to spend time on. We’ve received plenty of invites in the past few years for weddings and although they’re all beautiful, only some I found really showed off the personality of the couple.

Arnold and BirdI got recommended Arnold & Bird by someone on Twitter and immediately fell in love with the idea of Joanne’s bespoke wedding stationery service in which she works with couples to create the perfect designs that show off the couple’s personality in the best way.  So along the planning process of the wedding, I’ll be covering the whole journey on UpYourVlog and you’ll be getting an access all areas to what goes into Joanne’s fabulous work.Wedding StationerySo myself and Sam sat down together to speak with Joanne over the phone regarding our thoughts for the stationery as a whole. Well I say it was me and Sam, it was more me explaining everything I wanted and Sam just nodding in agreement. I mean, typical but I’m glad he was there to understand what was happening. He had no clue about wedding stationery on the day but I suppose guys don’t get the same excitement for stationery that we get.

We’ve discussed in detail the requirements for the save the date invitations, pinned ideas on Pinterest and Joanne is now in the process of designing them. Hopefully along the way, you’ll get to see more behind-the-scenes shots of the process and when the invites themselves have gone out over the Summer, I’ll be doing a big reveal on my blog.

For now though, here’s a Q&A with Joanne so you can get to know a bit more about her and her company.

What’s the meaning behind Arnold & Bird?

People often ask me why the name Arnold & Bird? The name originates from my grandparents. My Grampy’s surname is Arnold and my Gran’s maiden name was Bird so it felt like a perfect match. Plus my Grampy was a pigeon racer which fitted with the name bird. It’s why there is a little feather in the ampersand of my logo.

What got you into designing stationery for weddings?

I’d originally designed paper placements as an alternative to place cards at wedding an events. I hadn’t considered doing bespoke wedding stationery until a friend asked me to do hers. After that her friend got in touch, then another friend of a friend and so on… Before I knew it an extra part of my business has started! It totally fits with my ethos of working 121 with people on bespoke design and creatively bringing their ideas to life so it’s been a very happy accident.

Do you offer any other services?

Yes! I love collaborating with individuals, couples and creative businesses on various design projects. This includes bespoke graphic design that brings to life the ideas of design-led brands. And product development advice for creative businesses that help them develop their product range and give them an inspiration boost. My why is rooted in creatively empowering other design-led souls to make their ideas a reality. So I partner this with my background in design, trend forecasting and product development and it all fits well together.

During the design process, what’s your favourite part?

I love the initial chat I have with couples to hear their plans and ideas for their wedding stationery. I get as excited as them as I start imagining the final design. I really want their personality to shine through and to give their guests a glimpse of the gorgeous day of celebration and love ahead of them.

How do you work with clients on your bespoke design service?

I’ll work with couples to guide them through the design process and highlight the different options and what I recommend they need. From paper choice, layout, fonts, quantities, wording and add in a few design ideas too.

It’s always good to chat with the couple so I love to have a call to get to know exactly what they want. Once we’ve chatted, agreed on their design brief I’ll start painting, designing and working on the layout. There will be a proofing process to check everyone is happy then I’ll send the designs to print and get them delivered to you ready to send to your guests.

I cannot wait to see the invitations myself and I am so happy to be working with my first brand for our wedding. Keep your eyes peeled for the next one. What do you think of Arnold & Bird? Let me know in the comments below.
