Growing up, I knew that I was destined to achieve success. Maybe it was my creative mind running into overdrive but I knew my ideas and dreams were bigger than the small town of Stoke-on-Trent. Granted, I love going back there every so often but I know it’s a place that will never really be home for me because, for me, there’s not enough going on there. I’m now into my fifth year of blogging and wow has that time gone SO fast. I’m now going beyond my blog and freelance writing which was always my intended goal. I ghost write for other bloggers, a bit like what’s offered by www.rexoriginals.com actually. I also now feel like I can truly say that I own a business and that is incredible. But it does take a certain person to run a business – it takes a lot of passion and hard work. I love running a business for many reasons and money surprisingly isn’t the most important factor.
It Challenges Me To Learn
I’m a big believer in that you can always improve. You’re never perfect and I’ve never been complacent with life because after all, you only get one shot to make it count. So whether I’m trying to figure out how SEO works to improve my site or the best ways of using Pinterest to promote my blog, there’s always something that I can be learning. It’s this challenge to learn that’s created the advancements of technology we now have in society, like this great psd2 regulation or being able to get detailed analytics on my readers. I love that running a business is full of challenges that test me and I hope that as it grows, it continues to challenge me to make the right decisions and the wrong ones. They’re all lessons that go towards making my blog business stronger.
The Opportunities Are Endless
Every morning, as soon as I get up, I refresh my emails. I still get a rush of excitement because I never know what to expect. I’ve had random collaboration where I did a digital detox and got gifted a laptop. I’ve been to a private event held by Pandora and worked with so many different brands and PR companies. Each and every one of them has been so unexpected and I feel like the opportunities for blogging are endless. You only get out what you put in and that’s something that’s relevant to blogging too. You have the opportunities out there but they won’t just land in your inbox. You have to go out there and find them!
It Opens More Doors Financially
It’s still hard to believe the amount of money that’s made through blogging and on social media in general. There’s some who’ve managed to earn huge success from recording videos in their bedrooms or got themselves a full-time career from having a little space on the internet. I’ve managed to have reasonable success so far with my blog, so much so that I could now go full-time. Running a business, whether it’s a side hustle or a full-time thing, can open so many more doors financially. I can now hire 3rd party logistics companies or individuals to help me handle various aspects of my blog that might be taking up too much of my time. This helps in focusing on the areas of my business that need it, in order to achieve further success. So for example, I hire another blogger who offers social media services like scheduling content. So I get my Facebook and Twitter content scheduled on a monthly basis and I’m effectively hiring her on a freelance basis. THAT IS CRAZY. Like, I’m actually paying someone on a regular basis and even though that doesn’t make me a boss, I feel like it’s an opportunity that’s helped me so much.
Do you run a business? Let me know what that is in the comments below.
