My Travel Bucket List For My 30s

Being in my 30s, I’ve not had much of a midlife panic or crisis yet. It might be because I feel fairly content with what I’ve achieved so far. However, I definitely felt like I needed to do more recently, but having children certainly changes your priorities, and often things that you might have done while childless, you can’t do so easily when you have a child.

With that being said, there are plenty of places I’d love to travel to this year and beyond. We typically go away for Sam’s birthday, but we also need to consider that now that our little one is in nursery, we may need to travel out of term time. Let’s take a look at some of the spots I’m hoping to travel to in my 30s.

Los Angeles and San Francisco

I want to tick off as much of the US as possible; however, in this current economic climate, I’m not that enthused about going out there and contributing to the money being gained by the current administration.

HOWEVER, I would love to visit places like Los Angeles, San Francisco and Las Vegas, to name but a few states. There are so many states I’d like to tick off simply because they’re the states they are.  The more I can tick off, the more I can experience all of the different lifestyles and cultures that make up such a big country.

Seattle

Part of the US part of my travel bucket list is definitely Seattle. For context, my nan is adopted, and her real parents were discovered about six years ago, just before the pandemic. As such, we found my mum and auntie’s cousins in both Wisconsin and Seattle.

We’ve already visited Wisconsin, known for its cheese, and Seattle is another place where the family lives, so I’d love to go there. My parents have just been to visit, actually, and it looks like they’ve had so much fun.

Canada

Canada has always been a place I’ve wanted to visit.  There are so many visually beautiful spots that I’d want to see in Canada. At the same time, I’d also love to meet the people because, often enough, Canadians are referred to as being really nice.

I think if we visit Canada, I’m going to want to do at least a week, if not two, so that I can visit a variety of places in the country, from Toronto to Vancouver, and Montreal.

Greece

I’m not sure if I’ve been to Greece, although when I think and Rhodes and Corfu, I’m wondering if I did go as a child. Either way, like we’ve checked off a few places in Italy, I’d love to visit Santorini, Athens and Mykonos to name but a few.

The Caribbean

The Caribbean – I mean, who doesn’t want to go here? Of course, the Caribbean is a long way away travel-wise, so if and when we do go, we’ll definitely make it a two-week holiday. I’m not sure if it’s something we’ll be able to do with young kids or a destination spot we save until we’ve got older kids.

There are definitely a few places in the Caribbean that I’d like to visit. Barbados, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, the Dominican Republic, and the Bahamas are just a few.

Prague

We’ve done a few city breaks over the years, which is usually something that we do for Sam’s birthday. It’s usually a long weekend, and there are plenty of places we’ve visited so far. These include:

  • Amsterdam
  • Paris
  • Italy – this was a week’s trip to Milan and Venice

I’d love to do a place like Prague. I believe Sam has been on a stag do in Prague, but how much sightseeing he did outside of bars is not likely to be much! As I look at the world map, it’s incredible to think that I’ll never have enough time or accessibility to explore every inch of the world.

Budapest

Another city break I’d love to do is Budapest. Again, it’s one of those easy places to get to from the UK and has a lot of history to it, which I love. From the baths to the various castles and Basilica.

The Maldives

Finally, The Maldives. We were meant to holiday in this destination for our honeymoon. Turns out our dog, who was nearly two years old at the time, wanted to swallow a stone, so it meant we had to cancel it.

We’re probably going to do it in the next five or ten years, depending on where we’re at with children. Of course, the more we have and the more that are over the age of two, are only going to add to the cost.
