As I sat on the train coming back from Aberystwyth after a messy few days with some incredible friends, I was left with that post holiday blues feeling. Holidays for me have always been quite common, even during my childhood, I was extremely fortunate to be able to see parts of Spain and America, to name but a few. Most of the time, we went with our very close family friends, the Salmon family. There were so many great adventures because the Salmon kids were more or less close to the same age as me and Ashley (until Alfie came along). The experiences were so memorable and will certainly stay with me for the rest of my life, both good and bad. I’m saying this only because my brother Ashley managed to both go missing and accidentally fall into a swimming pool when he couldn’t swim. Nothing like living on the edge hey Ash?!
St James Villa Holidays have challenged me to the #SummerLove competition. We all have those special holidays that we’ll remember in some way or the other. Whether it’s for the weather, the experiences made or the new cultures discovered. Either way, holidays are away of escaping to a place of relaxation where memories can be made and shared. My favourite holiday that most recently has made a big impact on me was my trip to New York with Mummy Redman. If you’ve been reading my posts for a while, then you will have certainly read up on the holiday. However I thought I’d give you a brief reminder of this incredible holiday and a few of my favourite photographs from this magnificent city.
New York is a spectacular city, it’s breath-taking buildings are so tall, they made London look like an ant’s village. I cannot put into words just how big these buildings are.
The city brings feelings of nostalgia as it’s a city you regularly see on your television screens or in some of your favourite films. You do get the feeling that you are actually walking through a film set that’s full of colourful history and architecture.
My favourite experiences were visiting the 9/11 memorial museum, going to the Top of The Rock, seeing the Statue of Liberty, standing in Times Square and taking the tour buses all over New York city. The city itself is so vast that London is just not a patch on it. We only had a few days there but you could have easily filled your time with just tourist hotspots for days on end.
What I loved the most though was that I got to share these incredible memories with the closest person to me, my mum. We shared so much laughter, argued over whether to buy a cartoon sketch and spent endless hours walking several hundred blocks. This is the main reason that it’s my favourite holiday, the memories may fade over time but these photos capture a special moment shared between my mum and I.
