I cannot quite believe it’s been a whole year since the last Birra Moretti Gran Tour. So much has happened in that short space of time that I wouldn’t have imagined I’d be where I am now. My blog is making an income, I’m in a job I love and myself and Sam are saving for a house. I mean…adult goals right here.
The Birra Moretti Gran Tour is possibly the best event you could ever go to (that’s if you like beer, of course, otherwise well…awks). Last year it took place down Brick Lane, this year it was in Hyde Park. Hats off to Birra Moretti for stepping it UP! As part of the Barclaycard’s British Summertime Music Festival, the Birra Moretti Gran Tour had a proud spot in one of London’s most iconic parks. Like last year, they had a number of food stalls that included risotto balls, cheesy pasta and thin-slice pizza which can all be washed down with the finest Birra Moretti on tap.
Myself and Sam arrived after work, we wandered past a large group of people laid out on the grass watching The Lion King with headphones on, on a big outdoor screen. We saw a massive stage at one end where it looked as if they were filming some sporting event and another stage where I believe the music festival mainly takes place. We were given a number of drinks and food tokens each so we thought why not get a little bit merry on a Monday night?
The crowd that had gathered outside of the Birra Moretti stand was triple if not quadruple in size compared to last year. As they had more space to work with, they had a bigger set. The building was like a scene from a Western which seemed to have the same vibe with other food and drinks stalls scattered over the park.
Can well all just show some love to my lovely partner, who also has to pose and smile for all the blogging related events and things that I do. He’s a babe. Follow him on Twitter here and help a boy out. Our first pint went down very well but I definitely wanted to grab some food before we had any more pints. We headed straight for Pizza Pilgrims as this was one of our favourites from last year. We got a pizza each (because we are total fatties) and it was just as good as I remembered. The only problem was the queues were pretty long during the time we were there but it’s worth the wait, trust me!
We were pretty much stuffed after those pizzas but we did try out some Risotto Balls from the Arancini Brothers which were delicious, especially the caramel salted ones! We didn’t get to try out the Taste of Italy experience which was an immersive theatre show that featured authentic food, beer, sights, smells, textures and culture. We spent the rest of our time lazing around on the grass, drinking beer and loving life.
