I’m really enjoying Pinterest at the moment. I think it’s a great platform to use to just get creative, to find inspiration and to keep track of all the things that I’ve currently got going on in my head. Wedding ideas are just the tip of the iceberg, but it’s one of the most important aspects of my life right now that I need to begin focusing on.
My bride of honour and I had our first ‘wedding planning‘ dinner before Christmas and we started off fairly relaxed. We began with the venue (which seemed like a good place to begin) and over two pages later, we’d noted everything we could think of that was needed for a wedding venue and I have to admit – I was incredibly overwhelmed
A wedding after all is like a big, BIG party. There’s so many things that all contribute to the wedding day and I mean, it’s a lot. So, to begin I thought I’d share with you some of the ideas that have been brewing on my Pinterest feeds lately. These aren’t at all set in stone and are merely points to refer to when I actually get round to planning this damn thing.
Yes, it’s what every girl dreams about – or so they say. I was never really obsessed with all of the girls stuff growing up. I personally preferred to be seen as a tom boy (which is such an old saying!). But as I’ve grown older, especially since getting engaged, my lust over wedding dresses has only gotten more severe.
I want to have an idea of what I want when I walk into a wedding dress shop. Even if the wedding dress I pick is far from my idea. I really love off the shoulder and I think this honestly looks like one of the best styles for my figure.
I love the sweetheart necklines and the lace detailing. Big gowns are what it’s all about and I want to look like a god damn princess ok? Also that gown with the slit cut up the leg is definitely not what I want but it looks so extra that I had to include it.
The Colour Theme
I was always a fan of burgundy ever since I wore my first and only to date, bridesmaid dress at my Auntie’s wedding. That’s why my heart’s set on this colour as the theme, that and a dark navy blue because Sam looks sexy as hell in that colour.
I think all of my bridesmaids to be would look stunning in burgundy. I think it’s one of those colours that compliments any skin tone and I think I’d have their dresses with slightly altered styles to suit body shapes because at the end of the day, my girls matter and I want them to be as comfortable as I am.
The Venue & Location
So the location for us will definitely be closer to home. There’s no way we’d have in down in London because A – we’re not millionaires and B – we can’t expect all of our guests to travel down, pay for accommodation etc.
I’ve always wanted a manor house venue, I’d consider myself as having no religion so going to the church just because it’s traditional just doesn’t sit right with me. I think Sam’s in the same mindset and I know that we’ll be able to find a place that will create the vibe that we want.
As far as the rest of it goes, I’m pretty much an open book, pinning all of the random wedding stuff that’s going on Pinterest. Things like cake ideas, table settings and wedding decorations seem to be things that I’ll probably decide on eventually but there’s just so much out there.
I love the lanterns with the flowers in them. I would after all like some Moroccan inspired decor incorporated somewhere in the wedding as it’s where Sam proposed. I’ve seen lanterns on the side of aisles which I think is pretty.
As both myself and Sam have lost loved ones, the idea of having a ‘we’ll meet again‘ or ‘wish you were here‘ area with photos or names of those who’ve passed on is such a beautiful gesture.
What do you think of these wedding ideas? I found lots of inspiration on Confetti, a website full of inspiration for all aspects of the wedding day. Make sure to visit the website for all of the wedding feels. Let me know what you like in the comments below.
