Things I Purchased For My Business

When I’ve spoken about investing money into a business, I definitely believe that the more you’re willing to reinvest your profits, the better your business will be in the long run. I knew that once I would go freelance, I might have to spend a little bit of my money on equipment for filming and taking pictures. So here are some of the things I purchased for my business.

Lights For Business*This is a sponsored post

An iMac

The iMac was something I purchased earlier on this year with my desk and computer chair. It was one of those moments where I finally managed to get the set-up I’ve always wanted and I no longer need to pick between the sofa and bed to do my work. I’m still paying off the iMac but it should be done by Christmas, which is handy especially if I’m wanting to buy a few more things on finance. The iMac has been amazing for me to do my work and to see everything on a much bigger screen. I think a little further down the line, I might have two screens so that I can split and manage my work without having a million and one tabs open at the same time. But that isn’t something I need right now.

A Beauty Ring

I really dont consider myself a professional beauty artist or expert for that matter but I love playing with makeup and I feel like it’s definitely part of my channel. This beauty ring below was from Amazon and I am so impresseed by the quality that it provides. I think as I continue filming my videos, I’m going to get better at lighting and positioning. It’s all practice makes perfect for me and I love that I’m learning on my own as I go.

Mini Beauty Ring

The beauty ring light is perfect for my YouTube beauty and skincare tutorials, however the mini beauty light I think is going to come in handy for my IGTV videos. The one I got which you can see in the main picture at the beginning of the blog, comes with a handy clip for my phone and so it holds it up in the perfect position for me to take IGTV videos. I also now have it clipped to the side of my desk to do spur of the moment videos on my Instagram Stories because it provides me with more lighting.

White Backdrop

I got my first backdrop the other week which comes with a T-bar pole and grips for me to change over the back drop as and when I need it. The white backdrop isn’t the best quality but it’ll do as a grow my social media platforms. The white backdrop, I purchased specifically for my IGTV. This is one area of my business that I want to grow and to create videos that are fun and based around beauty and fashion. There is so much I want to do with this channel and hopefully it will boost my Instagram profile to get more followers. There are plenty of customizable and excellent quality backdrops that are worth investing in and I think I might do that once I’ve established it more and started earning via IGTV.

Yeti Microphone

The microphone is one thing that I’ve always wanted to get and that reminds me, I need some new headphones! The microphone I definitely have a few uses for.  Firstly I’d love to do some more singing on a YouTube channel, so definitely think I could use it for that. Secondly, I’m looking at starting up a podcast but right now, I’m not quite sure what type of topic I’d like to get into. I also need to do my research and listen to more podcasts. Finally, there’s definitely some uses that I can take advantage of with my YouTube channel, especially to improve the sound quality of my videos.

I still would like to get two more items to complete my business purchases but these may need to be bought possibly over the next year. My macbook pro that I got for my birthday back when I was 21 is now six years old and although it’s still functioning, it’s definitely slowing down. So my thought was to maybe get a new, thinner and slightly smaller version like this one and to trade in my old one whilst it’s still got some monetary value. Depending on how well I do over the next couple of months, it might be something I could push forward to getting this Christmas. And secondly I want to get myself a new camera. This would be one that I’d use for filming videos on YouTube and then I’d reserve my current camera, the Olympus Pen E-PL7, for when I’m out vlogging or needing it as a backup. I was thinking that maybe the Canon EOS 80D is the common one amongst YouTubers and it’s something that I feel I could get a lot of use out of.

What do you think about the business equipment I’ve purchased? Let me know in the comments below what’s worth getting.
