5 Things I’m Cutting Out To Stay Healthy

As I get older, I find it more and more difficult to actually maintain a hobby or activity and this is especially the case when it comes to staying healthy. There was a period in my life when I’d graduated university and was hitting the gym at least 2-3 times a week. From this, my stamina was high and my muscles were forming and I felt stronger. There’s nothing more liberating than feeling confident about your body and having the feeling that you can take on anything. 

Healthy Exercise

Unfortunately, that’s not been the case for the past 6-8 months and most of it is down to lack of time due to blogging. For all the perks that blogging brings me, spare time is something it swallows up on a daily basis which has led to me exercising less and gaining more weight. So here’s a few things I’ll be cutting out to aid my fitness journey in 2018.

 

Fizzy Drinks

I drink 1-2 cans of coke a day. How terrible is that? Yes it’s freaking delicious but if I’m not careful then I’ll be losing all my teeth before I’ve even hit 30. Scarily (and possibly a little weirdly) I can no longer break sellotape with my teeth and for me, that’s embarrassing because I always have to ask for scissors. It might not actually be because of the fizzy drinks and instead it could be an issue with my jaw, something that Dore Aesthetics could help with. Either way, the delicious fizzy drinks are going out!

 

Takeaways

This one is going to be a toughie. Mine and Sam’s lifestyles are always busy and we are only just beginning to get some semblance of a routine in the evenings when it comes to our meals. Therefore, takeouts tend to be on the menu every so often. Not only are they unhealthy for us but they also cost money which is something we need to be saving on currently. So goodbye Chinese and hello regular meals that are healthy and of good portion size.

 

Eating Out

This is similar to the last because we also tend to eat out a lot when it comes to our work. The main issue with this is that we never just order one dish. Most of the time we’ll either have bread/olives or a starter and this is where we’re eating more than necessary. So one of the things I’ll be cutting out is having more than one dish because I wouldn’t normally have two courses at home.

 

Sugar

My sweet tooth has always been strong ever since I was little. I used to love going to the corner shop after school and spending my pocket money on sweets. I’ve gotten better over the years, opting for more savory options and taking less than two spoons of sugar in my cup of coffee. However, I’m still a sugar fiend so I’m going to remove sugar from any hot drinks or sprinkling it on my cereal in the morning.

 

High-Calorie Alcohol

I was struggling to think of one more so my colleague Tom helped me out with this last one. Now realistically, I’m never going to cut out alcohol because I love it but what I can do is cut out the alcohol that’s high in calories. I’m talking about drinking too much wine. I love the vino but unfortunately it’s one drink that’s the highest in calories so I’m going to swap the beloved grape for something a little lighter like G&T.
